Ok I’m diabetic and have to go to the clinic at York Hospital yearly, I find it a pain in the neck but don’t mind going along to be poked and prodded as in the long term it is important. My sugars are consistently good, don’t drink, don’t smoke and get lots of exercise etc; not a model patient but pretty good.
When I was first diagnosed (15 years back) and attended I thought the clinic staff were fabulous, they were friendly helpful knew exactly how to get me to do stuff, and dare I say had a bit of a laugh (which in a hospital is wonderful).
However the last few years I feel have been woeful. I think the service has got worse and worse as I rarely see the same person year on year. I have the feeling I get spoken to like a 5 year old by the doctor and find his bedside manner not very impressive.
I’ve left my last few appointments extremely disappointed as I feel the patient service has been appalling. My last appointment I really wanted to discuss my injection sites but felt I was treated in such an offhand manner that I just left it.
"Service had been getting worse"
