About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter needed bloods taken. She has a terrible needle phobia, only 16. First time out of paediatrics and the nurses got her spray to numb the area before taking blood. Very caring. Special thanks to Dimitri who was the best at taking blood. They also promised to stock the local anaesthetic spray in future. They went the extra mile and made a stressful situation much easier.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear Eliz A,

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your daughter's recent experience. I know that sometimes the transition from paediatric to adult services can be quite daunting, therefore it is fantastic to hear that this was taken into consideration by the nurses who looked after her on this occasion.

Hi Lorna, it was a gastroenterology outpatient clinic at the RAH, Paisley last Friday morning.

After a bad experience as a younger child, my daughter has a needle phobia. This was acknowledged and not skimmed over. They listened and the procedure was done efficiently.
