"A&E after fall at home."

My wife, who has dementia, was admitted to the emergency section on Friday 27th February following a bad fall at home which made her unconscious and convulsing. She was put on a trolley in a corridor along with several others. We have the highest regard and nothing but praise for all the staff who attended her with extreme patience and kindness and made every allowance for her dementia. However the conditions were disgraceful. Shortly after we were admitted and the doctor was trying to discuss what had happened to her there was a constant procession of refuse containers along the corridor and right past her trolley for some thirty minutes. Quite apart from the hygiene aspect the noise from the trolleys made it impossible to hear what was being said by either us or the doctor who had to move aside every so often to let the refuse containers past. Then later in the day, in the same corridor workmen started to refit a swing door using hammers and electric drills creating considerable noise with total disregard for the patients on trolleys in the corridor, some of whom were only a few feet away. To summarise, the staff were fantastic, the conditions unacceptable.
