"Dignity"

About: King George Hospital

The gown covers the patient to the knee. However, lying on the bed right by the corridor, the urine collection bag is in full view of every passer-by. Try pulling the curtain across a little and it is instantly dragged back by any and every worker. No blanket supplied to cover the patient, not just for decency but for warmth. Ended up draping own clothes over lower body.

I am very sorry to hear this was the case when you visited our Urology department. Our patients’ dignity is of our utmost concern and I am pleased to say that we are in the process of changing to a new type gown that gives a much greater degree of dignity. Yours sincerely Wendy Matthews Interim Chief Nurse
