"No communication"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I was admitted to this hospital after passing blood, I was taken to ward 4 where i must say the staff were very good.My complaint is my consultant took 3 x-rays and i still don't know the results, Further more i was told i was having a sigmoidoscopy on Monday and then told i could not be fitted in and it would now be Tuesday .I waited to go to endoscopy and was told that i couldn't have anything to eat after lunchtime. I was told to put a gown on as i was on the list , I waited until 6pm only to be told by a nurse that i wasn't having it that day. I saw the consultant who apologised .I told him i was very annoyed and asked when i was going to have the procedure, He couldn't answer my question ,so i said well discharge me and i'll come in as a day case. He went to the desk and came back with an appointment for this Friday. Amazing as he didn't know when i was having the procedure as a patient but got me an appointment as a day case. Very very dissapointed with this consultant and lack of communication..

Dear Alan, Thanks very much for sharing this with us. I am sorry that despite good care from the ward 4 team you have been left feeling so disappointed by the delays in assessment and poor communication you've experienced - it is not how we'd want any of our patients to feel. I will be sharing this with the ward 4 team and the consultant involved in your care. If there is any more information you would like us to reflect on please do get in touch : Annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk With thanks, Annie
