Ward 7 Airedale Hospital. I was a patient on this ward 5 years ago being treated for a respiratory problem and my stay was a disaster from admission to discharge. There was no overall staff control, ill-discipline, lack of consistency towards patient care. I made my feelings known to the Ward Manager at the time. By coincidence I was admitted to the same bay of Ward 7 on 23 Feb 2015 and immediately noticed a complete overhaul of practice. The Nursing Staff were a cohesive and professional team who displayed an extremely high level of care in the delivery of their service, whilst at the same time ensuring that every patient retained their privacy, dignity and most importantly, their individualism. An air of friendliness existed whereas previously I likened my stay to the ward run by Nurse Ratchett in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". The Social Care Staff were highly trained and most thorough in their dealings with patients and the Ward Hostess ensured that the food requirements and general comfort of the patients were top notch. There has obviously been a great deal of work and effort put in since my previous stay on this ward and this must be down to the careful management of the Ward Manager. Congratulations, you assured me 5 years ago that my comments would be acted upon and indeed they have.
"Vast improvement"
