My young son has just spent approximately 3 months on Ward 29.
I can only describe the care, treatment and support he received as outstanding. Each and every member of the team from the matron to the cleaners and everyone in between deserve medals. The patience shown by the staff dealing with very ill and confused patients has to be applauded. The progress made from arrival to eventual discharge is a combined effort of the physiotherapists, occupational therapists, neurology team and the wonderful caring doctors and nurses.
Spending such an enormous amount of time in hospital is daunting to say the least, but I can honestly say the team almost became an extension of the family. To be able to leave the ward knowing your son is in such a safe and supported environment whilst being so defenceless and vulnerable is paramount. Despite the lengthy absence from home. We did miss him terribly, but knowing he was being cared for by this wonderful team made such a difference.
My sincere and heartfelt thanks to each and everyone involved in his care during what I can only describe as a very uncertain time for us all as a family. Without a shadow of doubt I'm sure he will be delighted to see the lovely hard working staff members again very soon when he returns to the hospital to continue his treatment as an outpatient.
Wonderful people, and an absolute credit to their professions. They should be very proud of themselves. We certainly wont forget them in a hurry. The difference they have made to my sons life has been immense and the continuing care and support that is in place for as long as he need it gives us great reassurance. Thank you all, you're all fabulous. xx
