About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

Attended ARI A & E after a fall as I had injured by back and ribs, Was not given an x-ray to rule out a fracture, was given no pain relief and despite being unable to walk I was decanted out into the street and told to visit my GP on Monday (this was on Friday evening).

Overall this was a horrendous experience. The staff were incompetent, uncaring and unprofessional to the point of being rude i feel.

ARI should be investigated by all relevant governing bodies as there are serious problems there which could adversely affect patient safety.

I am very sorry that the care you received fell below that which you would expect. There is no excuse for rudeness or an uncaring attitude.

NHS Grampian aims to be a caring, listening and improving organisation and this begins with listening to patients.

Having recently been reviewed by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, NHS Grampian is aware of the areas in which we need to improve and we have an improvement plan in place to address these areas.
