"Getting a doctors appointment is a joke"

About: NHS Lothian

(as the patient),

Howden Health Centre have recently changed their appointment system (for at least the 3rd time in a year). You now have to phone and tell the receptionist why you want to see the doctor, they pass your details and info to the doctor who phones you back and if they feel that and appointment is needed over the phone they will book one if not they will either write a prescription or you are told to deal with it yourself. I know at least one person who has been prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection without being sounded or anything. More and more prescriptions being handed out without anyone even seeing you. Oh and whatever happened to doctor/patient confidentiality having to tell a non qualified person over the phone why you are wanting to see a doctor is not on.

Dear upsetpatient123

I am sorry to read your concerns about your GP Practice. As GP practices are independent practitioners the best thing to do would be to contact the Practice Manager who will be able to discuss your concerns with you.
