"Absolutely Disgusting service"

About: King George Hospital

To say this is by far the worst hospital I have visited is an understatement. My uncle was transferred to you from queens as apparently you have a specialist urology department which after 6 days I am yet to experience.Day 1- arrived at midday no fluids or food until 7.30 when I demanded water and food to which I was told the food had all gone. Disgusting! In addition to this my uncle had a stroke 2 month prior and was still on medication and fluid drips at queens to which king George's failed to provide again for another 5 hours, when questioned a very rude lady attempted to belittle me by telling me I don't no medicine and that I should be quiet to which I replied I am no doctor but I no what a stroke patient should be receiving medication wise based on his notes and previous days in queens. I the questioned when his medication was going to be given and I was again told " when I do my drug round" as if this is and acceptable response! I was then told after further quizzing he would receive the drugs at 8pm, 8pm came and went and at 8.30 the same rude nurse came round and said it would be Nother hour. 7 hours from arrival. The nurse looked at the name board to call him by his name and realised he wasn't even written on the board. The nurse did not no her patient she was giving drugs to in an hour. This all happened within day 1.... Day 2,3 were not much better , day 4 seemed to be even worse, a nurse came round to the bedside and disconnected the buzzer for my uncle ..... Is this acceptable ? I think not! We have now demanded that he be transferred back to queens, a formal complaint is being made and I am notifying the press along with the councillor for the area. To think my uncle has been a tax payer all his life and this is the service he is receiving what a joke! Do not let your relatives stay here unless you want additional stress and poor service.

Thank you for leaving your comment on NHS Choices. We can only apologise for what sounds like an unacceptable standard of care that your uncle has been given at King George. We are really concerned about multiple aspects of your experience, around food, medication, the buzzer being disconnected and our staff being rude to you, which should never happen. We are really keen to investigate this for you as a priority. Please contact me via our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk and we will investigate. Yours sincerely, Nadeem Moghal, Medical Director
