On Sunday evening I developed typical heart attack symptoms. Having had 2 previous attacks, this one felt much worse and I thought the worst. My wife called the ambulance and within 5 minutes there were two outside my home. The staff were fantastic, and worked efficiently and were very reassuring. They took me to the resuscitation room at Pinderfields and again the nurse and doctor were very professional, reassuring and attentive. By midnight I was on Acute Assessment Unit and again the nurses and Cardiology Registrar were there to tell me what was happening, what they were doing and what came next. Fortunately the next day, the blood tests showed it wasn't a heart attack and I was able to return home, but further tests booked in a few weeks time to get to the bottom of the symptoms.
Over the past 10 years I've had call to be admitted to Pinderfields on several occasions either for heart attacks, angioplasty or prolapsed discs. On all but one occasion (locum consultant on orthopaedics), I can only praise and say a massive thank you to ambulance crews, nurses, doctors and consultants for their professional and considerate care they have given me. Without them I would not be alive today.
