"exceptional care"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

My partner suffers from a condition called Chiari malformation and has been on a waiting list for a foramen magnum decompression surgery for quite some time now. Bed shortages have meant that his surgery has been cancelled a few times and we have been hugely disappointed by this, however we understand that this is by no means the staff at addenbrookes fault. On 25/02/15 my partner's luck changed and he was taken, rather anxiously into theatre. Everything went so quickly and efficiently and after an operation of 3 hours and an hour in recovery I was extremely surprised to see my partner come back to the ward in such high spirit! As soon as I saw him I noticed an immediate positive difference. The fantastic neurosurgeon followed my partner down to the ward and as soon as he saw me in the waiting room he knew who I was and was eager to tell me how surgery had gone. Everything had gone so well and my partner was looking better after his major surgery than he was before which was amazing. All of the theatre staff had been amazing according to my partner and he highly praised the anaesthetist who he said had made him feel so at ease, his after care was the same and could not he faulted. The nurses, porters, health care assistants and all the other staff on ward A5 were friendly, efficient and my partner said they were like being treated by members of the family with their caring attitude. I also must not forget to mention the friendliness and fantastic attitude of ward A3 who prepared my partner for his op. Between ward A3 and A5 staff and all the theatre staff especially the consultant, I can quite easily say my partner and myself are thoroughly pleased with how his surgery and stay went at addenbrookes. Would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in a similar situation and hope the staff get the praise they highly deserve. Many many thanks to them all and it feels like it's going to be onwards and upwards from now on for my partner and our family. Many many thanks.
