Normally I am full of praise for the care I have received from this clinic, which I've attended for nearly 20 years now, however not on this occasion. I was desperate for help with my blood sugars which were way off from my usual control due to other medical issues and medication given by another team. So when finally got to yearly check up I was almost beside myself when I was picked up by the same GP specialist I had seen the previous visit and on asking for help was told I was too complicated and I'd have to come back in 3 months. I expressed my concern about the complications high BG would have on me but even although I had seen my named consultant in the clinic corridor she did not go and check with him or seek any advice but just sent me to get my eyes photographed and told me to come back in 3 months! So what damage will I suffer in that time? I felt really let down. DSN is really supportive as is the consultant when I see him but what happens when I go in 3 months and my file gets picked up by another person who it's too complicated for because it's at the top of the pile? As an educator, if one of my parents said they were having problems and needed help I wouldn't send them away to wait for a possible answer in 3 months but would strive to find the answer for them as soon as possible. Education is life enhancing not life threatening and I'd make sure they had some support from somewhere within days. So let down.
