"visit to scan dept constable wing"

About: Colchester General Hospital

i visited the scan dept today at 8am. i felt i was treated with dignity and respect. The nurse that attended to me was very courteous and explained everything i needed. My only concern was with the parking. I am a blue badge holder and find it difficult to walk any distance. i was lucky that so early in the morning there was only one space left for blue badge holders. i noticed the other cars taking up the spaces were not blue badge holders, and one of the cars had ice on the windscreen, and had obviously been there all night. I understand there will be difficulties for staff to find a space, but i was concerned that i would have to walk quite a distance until i noticed the one remaining space. Maybe this could be rectified.

Many thanks for your comments and taking the time to submit them. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. I would like to send your comments to the staff concerned, could you email me, using the reference “+ve Comment on Gynaecology 27/02/2015 10:59:30”, please so we can pass on your good wishes? We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category. You could enter the team/the person you were kind enough to write in about, by clicking here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/At_Our_Best_Awards Meanwhile, we have sent the following email to all Trust staff: "The Trust has received a number of complaints from members of the public about staff who do not have a disabled badge (Blue Badge) in their vehicle parking in disabled spaces at Colchester General Hospital, particularly overnight. It is unacceptable for staff to park in disabled spaces at any time of day or night unless they have a Blue Badge. If you do not feel safe walking to or from your car in the dark, you should contact Security and request an escort. Security can be contacted via the Helpdesk on ext 7676 or via the Trust Switchboard." Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
