"Clinic on weekend would be really useful"

About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service (Wicker clinic)

(as the patient),

I am happy with my treatment at Guernsey House. My only difficulty is with having to take days off work to attend the clinic. I know there is a late clinic on a Wednesday but I work 6am till 6pm and by the time I have travelled back it’s too late. A clinic on the weekend or later in the day would be really useful to me. I have not been in this job long and don’t like having days off.

Thank you for your posting, we are aware of how difficult it can be for our service users who have busy lives to accesss treatment. At the moment we are piloting a clinic on a saturday for service users who are leaving prison and require quick access to community based treatment.

A decision to extend this to service users who have similar dificulties as youself would be based on need. If there are enough service users who would benefit from this provision it would be more likely to happen.

Feedback from our service users about the services they need is important to us and forms part of our decision making process. In the meantime speaking to one of our drug workers about what support you could receive in managing this may be of help.

You can be referred to see a drug worker by contacting the clinic by phone or speaking to reception when you next attend.
