I initially took my 14 year old son Louis Poole to Solihull hospital A&E at approx 6.30 am on Tuesday 24th February after he awoke with agonising pain in his testicle. Neither of us had any idea what the problem might be and I could see no option other than to take him to our local A&E. He was seen there immediately and given morphine whilst being advised that it was likely to be a testicular torsion which would require surgery within 6 hours. All the arrangements were made with Heatlands hospital where I then took him. I was incredibly impressed by every member of the medical team at Solihull and Heartlands who were kind, friendly and incredibly efficient. My son was in theatre for his operation by about 10/10.15 am. The day went by in a blur for myself and Louis but we both came home that evening after a successful operation and short stay on the children's ward saying how impressed we were by everyone we came into contact with that day. He had never had an operation before or stayed in hospital but he came away with a very positive view of Heartlands and Solihull. When the surgeon who operated on him shook his hand and said "don't worry mate I'll look after you" just before he went into Theatre he felt completely reassured in spite of his nerves. Overall, the conclusion to our dramatic day was a good one and we are both incredibly thankful for the service we received from all of the nursing staff, surgeons, etc..They were also very kind to me whilst giving me reassurance and updates (which are very much appreciated by an anxious Mum!) I don't have any names but I hope you can thank those concerned on our behalf please.
