I was admitted through A&E last December after I became unwell following a private procedure. I was having difficulty breathing and chest pain. The staff were great. The A&E department was very busy and very challenging for the staff as it was "silly season" and the dept was stuffed full of over indulgers who's excess intake of alcohol or drugs. The staff were professional, observant, organised and compassionate. I spent four hours in a bay waiting for tests etc. I was then taken to ward 23 - again a very busy and challenging environment for staff and to some extent - the patients. Again staff and care given was of a good standard dispite all the comings and goings. We are so lucky to have the NHS. Okay so the food was Appauling but it's not a hotel, the staff are not servants, and it was difficult to sleep in a busy ward but they were there for me when I needed them and they got me well again. I get sick of people disrespecting the Staff and services - they do a great job utilising services with megre resources they have access too. It would help if people took more responsibility for their health and safety and didn't put themselves and others at risk with risky behaviour and end up cluttering up our hospital waiting times in A&E.
