About: Hillingdon Hospital

In addition to my recent review already posted regarding the five hours spent in UCC and A&E with my mother on the 20th, we were asked to wait in the UCC as a very ill patient needed the treatment room my mother was in. We were happy to as it seemed like the staff had just forgotten she was there and the room was in a very poor state, also we were only awaiting crazy results. After asking twice at the UCC desk, we were told doctors are just extremely busy. Therefore, after almost a 2 & 1/2 hour wait for results, we went back to the UCC treatment ward to be told the doctor had come out looking for us earlier to discharge my mother, however, the doctor did not call her name at all. Being told she's already discharged, we had to leave the hospital without seeing the doctor therefore she left with no advice or pain medication. Not impressed with Hillingdon at all. Firstly they need more staff, second they need to communicate with each other, third they need to communicate properly with patients. I did see a nurse walk into the ucc and look around but she did not once call my mothers name whereas other doctors and nurses were walking up and down the uCC calling names at least 4 times therefore it would've been impossible to miss my mothers name. Finally, staff need to know what they're actually doing in order to help patients. My mother was repeatedly told she's waiting for blood rest results when she had an X-ray done and no bloods, which they couldn't find any details of. After seeing her own GP today, she has been advised that she needs another xray for her neck rather than her wrist, she should've been signed off work and had blood tests done, neither of which hillingdon hospital provided. Very useless as mentioned before, wouldn't even use it as a last resort.

We are very sorry to hear about the negative experience you had whilst visiting the A&E Department at Hillingdon Hospital. We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your mother to discuss your experience in more detail – please contact either Noreen Rice (Emergency Care Services Manager) or Wendy Stevens (A&E Matron) on 01895 279959
