My son attends the dermatology department for treatment with the strong drug Roaccutane this has to be monitored regularly with blood tests. The department are incompetent ,for treatment to succeed the medication needs to be regularly taken yet each course he has had has been delayed as they don't arrange follow up appointments in time. The first time he was without medicine for 2 weeks and by the time he gets seen again following the latest course he will have been without tablets for nearly 3 weeks. how can this be allowed to happen? To start with the treatment will never work if it's not consistent ,plus this drug has to be very closely monitored, extremely worrying that they are so flippant about monitoring. I would also like to know if the service is now commissioned by the CCG as they may be interested in patient experience. to add to this ,even trying to communicate with the secretary or administrator to sort appointments out is a joke, they don't answer and never call back with any useful suggestion of how to sort out the mess someone please get this department in order!
