"Medical admission"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18) University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7) University Hospital Monklands / Renal (Ward 1)

(as the patient),

I was admitted over the festive period with a nasty kidney infection/sepsis with recurrent blackouts. I was originally cared for in ward 18 where the care I received was really good.

I was then transferred to ward 7, I must admit I was a little apprehensive and worried as I had suffered a cardiac arrest on ward 6 when the staff were down there. I was also worried as the care I have previously received in surgical namely ward 4 was a nightmare. I had never came across as many uncaring, rude and cheeky nurses and some doctors during all my hospital stays. However I must say ward 7 showed that there are many caring nurses and their care to me was outstanding despite causing mayhem with my spontaneous arrest back in 2012.

The ward is very lucky to have such a wonderful and caring charge nurse who takes time to speak to the patients and it never appears to be much trouble to her despite how busy the ward was.

Well done ward 18 and ward 7 for making a miserable time as pleasant as could be.

Dear Patient1990

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of care within Monklands Hospital.

I am very sorry to hear of your previous experience during 2012 and can fully understand your apprehensions of being re-admitted. I am very pleased to learn your experience was very positive, and you found staff caring and listening to your concerns. I will pass on your kind comments to the staff.

I believe it is important to learn from patient experiences good and not so good and would welcome the opportunity to hear more of your stay in the hospital during 2012, I would be very grateful if you would contact me on 01236 713065.

I do hope you are now recovering from your Kidney Infection/Sepsis.

Kind regards

Ruth
