"Tonsillectomy and needle phobic."

People generally like to pull bad press on the hospital but it's time to hear a very positive experience had by myself on the 18/19th feh 2015. I was admitted for tonsillectomy, I was a very anxious patient who's fear of needles has a major ability on my impact to cope with the antisipation of needing to face a needle. Staff responded very well to me and supported me throughout the admission process. After speaking to the consultant anaesthetist my fear was illlivated massively as he agreed a gas induction for my operation requiring no needles. A little upset and anxious about the operation itself on my way to threater I met my anesthetist again he was very supportive and reassuring and the whole team in the room were brilliantly understanding and caring. Following the operation I came round in recovery in lots of pains and tearful and very confused. Here I was supported by three lovely members of staff who reassured me and did not leave my side, they were very informative and were very attentive and considerate going that extra mile to comfort me by holding my hand and stroking my forehead. I spent two and half hours in the recovery room until I was stable and able to return to ward. The staff there did a fabulous job one lady (sorry I cannot recall your names), I forget her name and one lady who was new to recovery and a gentleman all made the horrible process berable without them supporting me the experience would have been terrible. I felt safe and secure the whole time. I want to say a massive thank you to the recovery and anestisia team on ward 2! they are a wonderful and very caring group of individuals all offering superb support up to and beyond there job roles. Also a massive thank you to my surgeon who visited me after the procedure and first thing the following morning. Again the level of care and support was second to none! And a huge thank you to my night nurse on ward 5B she made my over night stay in pilgrim a nice experience dispute my pain and discomfort. She was very warm and caring. Her and the team on the night of the 18th she had a very busy night but dispite this every time she attended to me she was gentle and had all the I needed and did it all with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and at the press of a bell she was there! A beautiful soul who clearly enjoys her work. I cannot thank you all enough for what you did for me in my 24 hrs at Boston hospital! Thank you for the teams efforts from the theatre and anestisia team on ward 2 and the night nurse and her team on ward 5b. I never realised just how busy the night shift is on a ward and this nurse is a blessing to pilgrim, a smile at every hours and at every turn! Thank you for such a positive experience under uncomfortable circumstance! Thank you! :)
