I feel my mother was left starving and dehydrated in North Tees General Hospital. Sadly my mother passed away 3 days after being admitted to North Tees Hospital.
When I complained about her care I was firstly told she was on "nil by mouth" and when challenged they didn't actually know if she was or not - it turned out she wasn't which meant that she could have been given food and water but was denied it.
When I visited she begged me for a drink - it was heartbreaking.
The replies to my letters of compaint were ridiculous. All they kept repeating was "I am sorry if this was not explained to you at the time".
What I feel is missing here is basic nursing care. After receiving 2 inadequate replies to my letters I find it too upsetting to deal with the hospital and am going to take it higher.
When I asked for my mother's hospital notes they told me I wasn't my mother's next of kin - but guess who they rang to tell me she had died?
"Too upsetting to deal with the hospital after my mother's death"
