"Concern over cleanliness at Queen Alexandra"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as a relative),

Whilst visiting a relative at QA hospital in Portsmouth, I was disgusted with just about everything.

The gel in the front foyer was empty - I even told staff but nothing got done.

Up on wards seemed filthy. I felt nothing got cleaned as the medicine was still spilt and dribbled and was still there 4 days later.

Under beds and lockers were the same. Bits on the floor for days, and if you put a handbag down on floor it would be covered in filth.

I saw patients waiting hours late for the drugs, drugs trolley open and unattended, drugs given to patients left on the meal tray over the bed.

One patient said he wasn't given the drugs, but he had upset them in his bed. I saw a peg-fed patient having the tube blocked not once but twice, when they were told to flush the tube as soon as the feed had finished. This patient also had been laid down with false teeth in when he was not able to have anything by mouth, as was recovering from a stroke.
