"I felt an attitude of “take no notice, she will go away” existed"

I was admitted to the Royal Hallamshire on a Wednesday at 1.20pm and given a scan. I was moved to a ward at 1.30pm the next day. I thought it was nice to get a bed but I was given no information. On the Friday I was told not the kidney but the arthritis specialist would come and see me. No one came until during Saturday night when the doctor came at 6.30pm just as supper arrived. I had no supper then cause it got cold! I was told I needed a blood test and an x-ray the next day. Some one came to take my blood at 10.30pm. Sunday dinner came at 12.30 and five minutes later the porter came for to take me for my x-ray! I left dinner and a cup of tea. I was kept waiting in a cold room for 30 minutes then told by the radiographer that they were not going to it cause I had a scan. I was sent back to the room with no food or drink.

On the Monday I was told the physio would see me; she did come and brought a walking stick and told me to go home. I left at 1.00pm with info that the physio would be in touch. 10 days later no contact and no idea about surgery. I felt an attitude of “take no notice, she will go away” existed.I felt like they thought I was too old to be bothered about (72 years). They seemed to ignore all I said, even giving me tablets I had said made me sick (they did!) A bad night followed that!

Complete lack of communication between departments/patients/doctors. Meals should not be delivered 30 minutes after visitors arrive. At least a lot of pain stopped- still bad aching but I feel it’s not worth complaining.
