My dad had small cell lung cancer in December 2013. My self and my sister took him to a and e at the Victoria hospital in kirkcaldy on 3 different occasions with breathlessness and he was admitted for a day at a time. We were then told he had a chest infection, which was not true it turned out he had a severe case of pneumonia which nearly took his life. My self and my sister said to the doctors could it be pneumonia, which we were told no and they did chest x-rays.
Now why did they not pick up on this before we also waited for 2 hours outside admissions 1 before a bed become available. My dad could hardly breath and no one come to check on him once. The service is appalling and none of the doctors he seen had any idea he had lung cancer. They should have read his notes before coming to see my dad.
