"Children A&E"

About: Kingston Hospital

We had been here before, so had some serious doubts to go there, but no more doubts. This is a no go zone! Upon arriving i asked for a pyjama or nappy, as my son had pooed himself due to diaorrhea. No one turned up to help for an hour even though they promised. I had to go back to the desk and ask again. Fine. The nurse was helpful, but after that the "doctor" who was treating my son was less so. Ignorant, lacking in empathy, inpatient, reckless, careless just to name a few of his "skills". He gaped so much my son`s ear when he was examining it that he was crying and became hysterical not to be touched by this man again. I asked for a blood test, as my boy was and is very pale and the doctor was reluctant, even though the numbing cream had been on my son`s hand for nearly 2 hours. Eventually he took blood from him, no he only tried to take blood, and he could get two drops only after i had to squeeze my sons hand to pump out something. Needless to say, my son`s hand is swollen and discoloured now. He was sporting with the "bloody" syringe after that, nearly scratching me!!! The doctor also manage to knock down some equipment to the floor. We were gobsmacked, we have never seen anything like this. The amount of blood he took, wasn`t enough for a test, i was informed later on. One more negative experience- the parking system. The meters are not able to read the time between entry and exit, this should be looked in to it as well.

We are really sorry to hear about your recent visit to Paediatric A&E with your son. We really do value your feedback so will be sharing your comments with the Paediatric A&E Team. Please could you email PALS department pals@kingstonhospital.nhs.uk more details (e.g. your son’s name and date of birth) so we can look further into the care your son received. We hope your son is now feeling better.
