"IVF treatment"

About: Homerton University Hospital

I have just finished my first round of IVF. The treatment started very positively. The clinicians were good and nurses seemed good also. The 3rd appointment was different. I met with a clinician who coldly told me that she could see a polyp in my uterus and that this should have been removed before my IVF treatment. I was shocked and didn't process that appointment well. Obviously I was very concerned and on my next scan they told me there wasn't a polyp. They never clarified why one clinician was positive there was one and the next couldn't see one. The day of extraction went well but the follow up phone call and treatment was quite poor. Someone from the clinic rang me the next day and told me it was unsuccessful- she was quite difficult to understand. She told me to come in the next day and he clinician would talk through next steps. My husband and I came in the next day and a nurse took us to a toilet and asked us to gown up. We explained that we were told our treatment had not been successful however she told us that our eggs had started fertilising now (no-one had called us to tell us this). We then took us to a procedure room where we had to decide within 10 minutes where we should implant two embryos (not of the highest quality). We implanted but I question whether these embryos should have been implanted due to the poor quality. The IVF treatment did not work. The nurse called me to tell me that I wasn't pregnant and the proceeded to tell me the next appointment with a clinician wouldn't be available for another 6 weeks! We are so disappointed as we have been trying now to get pregnant for 4 years. This just seems unbelievable as when they told us it hadn't worked after the extraction they could offer an appointment the next day. I don't understand this. The whole experience has been very mixed and I believe pre actual treatment they were all very good but since we had mixed messaging about the discovery of a polyp I have been very disappointed with our treatment.
