I had been diagnosed with arthritis, my new consultant at Wishaw Hospital, Dr Anna, diagnosed it as rheumatoid arthritis and referred me to the occupational therapy team for physiotherapy on my wrist.
My physiotherapist is Jenna Brown, she is amazing. Jenna is so helpful and thorough with my interests at heart. She really cares and is so kind, she understands the far reaching consequences of a flare up in my condition and is true to her word when she promises to take particular action.
I have been having treatment from Jenna for three weeks, on my last visit my wrist was very painful and inflamed. Jenna felt she would do more damage if she tried to do any physiotherapy on the wrist and proposed raising it with the team with a view to bringing forward my appointment with the consultant.
She did exactly that. She called me the following day with a new appointment to see the doctor.
What makes Jenna so special is her understanding and knowledge. She knows my past history although I am new to the hospital having moved from South Wales 5 weeks ago. She remembered what I had told her about my past employment and circumstances at home and has taken all these factors into account when treating me, without needing to check my records for information.
I want her to have a medal!
The whole hospital has been lovely. On the day we left South Wales to move to Lanarkshire my husband broke his arm in a fall. We went ahead with the move with his arm in a splint and went to Wishaw hospital the very next day to have his arm properly treated. Due to ill health it was not possible to operate on his arm, however the team of community nurses who have been to see him each day have been brilliant.
All the staff have been treasures.
