"Assessment & Treatment Unit"

About: Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust / Learning disability services

(as a relative),

It was made more comfortable for daughter to stay in her own space throughout her stay as she prefers this to be so because she can soon become agitated if anyone goes into her own space or want to watch a different channel to her own favourite channel (ITV or channel 3)

It would be a positive move in the future to redesign the unit so that patients like my daughter who has the condition autism + severe challenging behaviour has a segregated area/room for watching strictly. Also it would be easier if facilities were available to do hair dressing e. g. a “Back” wash sink just like in the hair salon.

Thank you for your valuable comments.

The ward is currently undergoing a programme of redesign which will include new specialist bathroom and en-suite facilities which will mean we are able to offer pamper sessions and hair washing facilities.

The redesign will also enable us to use more of the ward for service user areas and help us meet people’s needs.
