"Cholecystectomy"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I was admitted last year in March with an infected gallbladder after suffering horrendous pain and diagnosed with a large gallstone that would require surgery to remove my gallbladder. At that time the staff were wonderful and I could not have asked for anything better. I was admitted on the Digby ward and the staff were amazing. Upon discharge I was to receive an appointment for surgery date tbc within two weeks of leaving hospital. This I did have to chase up a little bit but received my appointment for the 18th July. I did a lot of research on the subject and read a lot of the reviews on this site, some good some not so good. Left me a little worried but after such good care in March but I figured it would be pretty much the same. I was not disappointed. I was admitted to the day surgery waiting room where I was dealt with by a lovely member of staff. My husband was with me and I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to be the first one into surgery. The staff were wonderful, put me at my ease and walked me through the whole procedure. They were professional and answered all my questions with sympathy and patience. The only bit I found strange was the walk into the theatre. A little disconcerting but again the anaesthesia staff were fantastic, holding my hand putting me at ease as I was extremely distressed. Before I knew it, it was over and I was back on the ward. Two days in hospital and again excellent care from all the staff. I can't thank them enough for time and patience and feel that the bad reviews tend to overshadow the good and just wanted to put my positive experience on here to let people know how good this hospital was to me. To anyone who is waiting for this surgery, don't worry, it is a common surgery and despite some negative side effects I would definitely go through with it again, no hesitation. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. To all the staff a huge thank you for making my stay as comfortable as possible and to the nurses for their exceptional care. Lincoln has a hospital to be proud of.

Dear A Taylor

We on Digby ward are very grateful that you have taken the time to post such comments. It is common knowledge that in all areas we are stretched and working extremely hard but despite this, our aim is to always care for our patients to a high standard and put them at ease as we all appreciate how worrying it can be when coming into hospital.

I hope you are recovering well and once again thank you for getting in touch.

Kind regards

Alison
