"Appalling"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

What an appalling hospital with a terrible and rude staff culture. Communication is nearly non existent. Was admitted with Pneumonia. First day stay in the new part was good but then moved 5 times in 5 days. Now been moved onto ward 9 from ward 11 and what a disgrace. Been placed in a freezing cold room that even a nurse said smelled of damp. Have no tv, had nobody come explain where wash and toilet facilities are. Family asked to speak to the ward sister but after 90 mins and no reply they had to seek her out. She was sat at a desk and picked up a phone and kept it next to her ear whilst talking to to them, very rude and ignorant. Asked to be taken back to ward 11 who werr happy to do so but then somebody blocked it. What happened to hospitals caring and putting patients first?

Good communication from our staff is a high priority for us so it would be useful to look into the details of your case further. You can do this by speaking with our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team on 0800 953 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk
