"Genuinely caring staff, excellent facilities"

Sadly, I lost three babies in quick succession from October 2014 to January of 2015. After the third miscarriage began and after the utter unhelpfulness of the EPAU at St James' Hospital, I was told to get to A&E immediately, due to the pain, sudden onslaught of the miscarriage and the heavy bleeding. After a long wait, I was admitted to the General Surgery ward for observation overnight and following a scan the next day, I was admitted to the Gynaecology Ward. My things were all placed in bag for me and brought to the new ward. It was honestly a horrible time (I was alone, because the husband had to work), but everyone, from the consultant to the nurses to the porters, were so very kind. Even when I sat and burst into tears (upon receiving a text from a friend to say she was expecting...just after my third loss), the nurse stayed and just held my hand. Just that little bit of compassion made such a difference. This was my experience throughout each department and staff that I met with. On the Gynaecology Ward, I was placed in a private room which had a private bathroom. I really felt like I'd been treated with dignity and care. After the scans, everything was explained to me by the EPAU consultant and told what the next steps would be. I felt like I was kept in the know and that they genuinely cared, despite having an abundance of other patients to attend to. A very horrible time made far less stressful by caring staff. Thank you.
