"Wonderful staff!"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

(as a parent/guardian),

My 12 year old daughter has just returned home after undergoing a thyroidectomy. She stayed one night under observation.

I can't say enough about how wonderful every member of staff was. The nurse in ambulatory care who checked us in, the anaesthetist, the consultant, the staff in theatre, the nurse in recovery and all the nurses on D34. They all engaged with my daughter at exactly the right level, talking to her, having a laugh but making sure she understood everything and never making us feel that we were making a fuss or that they didn't have time for us. I saw this for all the other children who were around us too. I really hope I don't have to spend any more time in hospital with my kids but if I did I would want them to be cared for by these people. Amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We understand that your daughter staying overnight can be a frightening experience for you both so it is wonderful that the staff were able to make this experience a positive one. Your kind words will make the day of many of our staff.

This feedback was originally posted in February 2015 via the Patient Opinion website. There is presently a technical problem with the NHS Choices website. This means a back log of comments are presently being pulled from the Patient Opinion website later than usual. We have escalated our concerns to the NHS Choices team, who have assured us that their team are working to resolve the problem. We responded to this post back in February 2015. This lovely feedback was shared with the staff involved at the time.
