"We are rather nervous"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My Mum has a large abdominal hernia and was under care of a surgeon which she is pleased with. Told she wouldn't have surgery until April 2015 but to her surprise she's booked in for op mid-February.

This is great service, but her surgeon is now someone who she/we don't know. I can't find anything out about this new surgeon and they're not on hospital website. We would like to know bit more background and because we can't find any info (when and where qualified, how long been general surgeon, what is their speciality within general surgery, etc) we are rather nervous.

It's time RDH updated its website so people can look up the Doctors treating them. Thanks

Firstly, we would like to thank you for taking the time to provide Patient Opinion with your comments. However, also apologise for the delay in being able to respond sooner to this feedback, which was due in the main to some technical difficulties we have been experiencing. We are sorry you have been having some difficulties in obtaining more detailed information about our Consultants on our Trust website. I am advised that our website is updated monthly, but the personal information provided regarding our Consultants is limited. However, I have been advised that if more personal information is required, the best course of action would be to contact the Consultant or their secretary direct. All contact details can be found on the website.

Many thanks once again for sending Patient Opinion this information and may we take the opportunity to wish yourself and your mother best wishes for the future and we certainly hope her surgery was successful and she is recovering well.

Kind regards

Patient Experience Team for Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
