I was referred to Wharfedale hospital for General diabetes care after moving to the area early last year, an appointment was made after nearly a 3 month wait then 3 weeks before my appointment I received a letter informing me that this appointment was cancelled and brought forward by a week. My work wouldn't approve my time off with only a week's notice so I contacted the hospital to rearrange. I was spoken to in a rather abrupt manner and asked several times why I was cancelling the appointment as it would need to go on my record, she would not listen when I tried to explain that I wasn't cancelling the appointment they had cancelled the appointment that I had got permission from work to attend and made another that I could not attend. I was then told that as I was cancelling I would have to wait six months for another appointment. I have always had excellent diabetes care and I was expecting the same level of service when moving to this area but I am severely dissatisfied with the care (or rather lack of care) I have received at this modern day equivalent of a cottage hospital.
