My farher, William Collier, was on Swift ward 17.12.14 to 14.01.15. My mother, Joan Collier was in the medical assessment unit then Maple ward from 07.01.15 to 29.01.15. My parents were treated with dignity by staff, always being called by their name when being spoken to, curtains round bed being drawn for modesty when being washed etc. Staff engaged in conversation and created a good atmosphere. I was impressed with the diagnostic abilities of staff and the interpersonal skills of a doctor on Swift ward when she had to advise me my farher had terminal kidney cancer. The oncology nurses that spoke to me were also very caring and well informed. The doctor on Maple stabilised my mother and has ensured she has appropriate follow up appointments now she has left hospital. The staff providing patient meals on the ward were all very cheerful and also I noticed used my parent's names. One nurse on Maple was entertaining everyone singing away and was a sheer joy. Fantastic staff. Thank you.
"Excellent care of my parents"
