I was on the mulberry unit which is an adolescent unit for 3 months and it was the most horrible 3 months of my life. Some members of staff were very rude unsupportive and to be honest they made me feel worthless. I felt the physciartrists did not listen to me and did not take me seriously. On one occasion I was mistreated by a member of staff who I was concerned about who looked I'll so I asked if that member of staff was ok and they called me rude ect. They then carried on to start an argument with me in which then I ran off into my room and locking myself in the bathroom they managed to get me out but no member of staff was taking in to consideration my state and what has just happend they acted like it never happened but did speak to me but didn't really stick up for me. On another occasion a member of staff called me and a friend bully's taking into account that we have both been bullied ourselves which contributed to our mental health problems. I was in the kitchen so I moved another girls placemat out the way to replace mine so I could sit down. In which my friend accidently moved it and it fell off the table we were then called into the office and we were blatantly called bullies. The same nurse when I hurt myself and was bleeding quite a lot said that they were just scratches saying "oh having you been scratching again?" When there was two obvious deep cuts into my arm this made me feel worse as i felt I had failed to hurt myself. Also a long serving HCA was mistreating a paitent as she had been through a tough time and wouldn't wash. The HCA would come into the communal area and say infront of us all that she needs to wash and she smells Ect. Constantly picking on her all the time. But in a nutshell it was a terrible experience and will live with memories of this place in which I can't forget and it haunts me it made me worse if you or your child is going to this hospital think again and try to convince services to relocate your child so they can get the help they need and deserve.
"Horrible experience"
