"Patients Opportunity to Contribute to Recruitment at Wathwood Hospital"

About: Wathwood Hospital

(as the patient),

We were recently asked to sit on a patient’s interview panel for nursing assistants at Wathwood hospital. This was our first experience of interviewing and we very much appreciated and valued the help and encouragement from the Rosewood Involvement Centre in Ollerton. They supported us to devise some questions for the candidates around their views on Equality and Diversity and what qualities they believed they could bring to the role of nursing assistant. We would look forward to being asked to contribute to the recruitment process and in the future…

We were very grateful to the patients who participated in the interviews for nursing assistants. It was two quite long sessions but they did very well. They generated some excellent questions and the patient panel scores reflected the scores given by the professional panel which was encouraging that patients and managers are looking for the same qualities in staff. The feedback from all 3 patients who sat on the interview panel was very postive. They told me that they had felt very supported by the Rosewood volunteers and had enjoyed the experience and would like to participate again in future.
