"Mc millan centre and chemotherapy unit"

About: Leighton Hospital

I would just like to comment on the excellent care and treatment myself and family have received from all the staff at the McMillan centre and when I received my chemotherapy of which I have just finished at the chemotherapy unit. I have got breast cancer and things have not gone smoothly at times ie getting sepsis pneumonia infections in hickman line and being ill with the chemo but the oncology team and Macmillan nurse and the doctor have been absolutely amazing to be honest at times I've felt so ill I have felt like giving up but the staff where always there to help and support me and my family through it I don't think I would have got better care and attention anywhere else. I would also like to thank the volunteer staff who supplied you with cups of tea and biscuits and always were cheery and made you feel better I know I've still got a long way to go as have to have radiotherapy but I know I will come out the other side with the continued support of these wonderful special people. Response from Leighton Hospital

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on NHS Choices. It was so lovely to read that you have felt well supported throughout your cancer treatment to date, especially having had such a difficult time. I will make sure that your positive comments are fed back to all of our staff including our volunteers, they all do an amazing job to support our patients, staff and the Unit. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can support you in any other way whilst your treatment is ongoing. Best wishes Delyth Owen, Clinical Nurse Manager, Cancer Services.
