"Scary situation.."

About: Scarborough General Hospital

on the morning of 22/01/15 my father was took to scarborough a&e with an unknown illness we could not wake him up....he lived in a caravan so it was rather hard for the paramedics to get him out in to the ambulance but they where brilliant and did all relevent checks inside the caravan and then they carried him out as the field was to muddy to get the strecher across...so first of all i would like the thank them. When my dad arrived in a and e the doctors started working on him straight away taking bloods mri scans etc....after a 1 hour wait they thought it may be a bleed to the brain so they booked transport to hull staight away..half an hour later they had a closer look at the mri and relised it wasnt a bleed but an infection....We thought we where going to lose him we where scared worried and upset...while we where waiting the head nurse was brilliant and so good at her job, she reassured us every 5 mins and kept coming to check on my dad and talk to him as he was still slightly uncontious...they started him on antibiotic drips straight away and you could see a difference im so glad this nurse was there every step of the way calling me giving us updates etc... So it turned out my father has meningitis. He is doing so well and the nurse even came to see him today to see how he was getting on. i dont think she knows what an asset she is to scarborough hospital. Thank you to her and all the doctors that saved my dads life! my faith in the NHS is restored....
