"A&E"

About: Croydon University Hospital

So upsetting experience. I took my daughter to Croydon A&E since she had intermittent chest pain with breathing problem since last 48 hours. Got initial enquiry and then waited for couple of hours before seeing a doctor. Doctor checked her chest and said - chests is clear, and oxygen level is reported as normal. So she is medically fit. And asked us to go home in 3-4 minutes of seeing her. She was still having pain and breathing heavily while being checked by him, but he still insisted that she is fit. When as a concerned dad, I tried to explain that she is suffering and something might be wrong, he got offended and responded rudely. We left A&E in 5 minutes. Apparently, my daughter is still suffering from chest pain on 3rd consecutive day, and just been sent back from school. Not sure how to react on ignorant and rude doctors.

Dear Nitin Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your experience and I am sorry to learn of the poor service you received. It is not clear whether you were seen by our paediatric doctors or in the Urgent Care Centre, which is run by VirginCare. If you are able to contact us with more information, I will take this forward with the service concerned. You can contact our PALS office on 020 8401 3210 or at pals@croydonhealth.nhs.uk, or contact me direct at graham.richardson@croydonhealth.nhs.uk.
