My 70 yr old dad was admitted last Thursday after his PEG tube came out on Wednesday night. He was supposed to have a nose tube to feed him but we're still waiting and today is Sunday! ! That's now 4 days he hasn't had any food for. Dad couldn't have surgery to have his PEG reinserted over the weekend because they don't operate at the weekend so he has to wait until Tuesday because the list is full on Monday. I am appalled at this treatment, it is tantamount to neglect and abuse (starvation). I have just spoken to the ward sister at 1600 hrs and she informed me that it should be put in today although she was very vague and couldn't commit 100% to it. I am disgusted with the way my Dad has been left on the back burner and will be taking this further as this isn't the first time he has been neglected whilst in the case of the NHS, in particular ArrowePark Hospital.
