"Prescribing Warfarin"

As from January this year, my surgery has decided to prescribe warfarin only as exactly as needed. For example, if my I. N. R test says I need ten 1mg tablets and two mg tablets for the week that is all they prescribe. I used to have a box of each when low. If I got down to half a week of brown ones I got a new box of 28, then I have back up in case I ever drop one and tread on it or lose it etc., but now if that happens I have to phone for anther prescription for one, yes one tablet at a cost of £8-05. It's silly. This creates more work for them, a prescription every visit and more admin costs and we have no back up. They say the reason for this is because it's a toxic drug. Well, it's been toxic from day one hasn't it? Every drug is toxic if you take enough of it. They say that every clinic will do this by the end of March. is this true or is it just my surgery? If so, it's a disgrace.
