Copy of letter sent to hospital: Dear Sirs: Last Saturday (January 10th) I had an appointment at 12:30 for a PET scan. I parked in a Disabled space and then, as I walked towards the entrance, I tripped on the curb and fell flat on my face. This was incredibly stupid on my part and I have nobody to blame but myself. A couple who were visiting saw my plight and went inside for help. Two very nice lady doctors came to my aid. I was picked up, put in a wheelchair and wheeled to the scan department. The two lady doctors were extremely concerned about me and wished to send me to the A & E at the Radcliffe. I absolutely refused to go. I told them that I was there for the PET scan and, if they were unable to do it because of my accident then I would just get in my car and drive home. They were really very worried about me. But of course could do nothing without my consent. However a gentleman turned up (and I do mean a gentleman in the very real sense of the word) who was actually off duty but had come in to do some paperwork. This doctor decided to scan my head to ensure that I had not done any real damage and then, if all was OK, he would arrange for the PET scan later. I had apparently not done anything serious and so had the scan. And then eventually left to come home. I cannot praise the staff who looked after me too highly. They were all superb and the doctor doubly superb - if there is such a thing! So many, many thanks to you all Mrs. N J Callis
