"Waiting times are a joke!"

About: Leicester General Hospital

After being transferred to the general hospital from leicester royal infirmary as I would be seen quicker there I sat for 5 hours only to be seen by a nurse to take my details. As it got near 8pm, the wards closing time, I was told that I would be given a bed for the night, this seemed unnecessary when there was people there who needed more urgent care and I wasn't in pain and only there as a procausionary measure. I decided to come home as after spending hours on end sitting in waiting rooms and travelling between hospitals with no results the last thing I wanted was to spend a night in hospital when I was feeling well enough to be home. The problem was clearly lack of staff, there was a period of over two hours where no one was seen by a doctor, surely that isn't acceptable? The nurses however were helpful and apologetic for the wait and did what they could for us. When leaving the hospital I asked if it would be okay for me to come back another time or to book an appointment, but apparently that was impossible & Id going to have to go through the same procedure again if I want a chance to see anyone. For me this was a pointless trip to the hospital and I am still none the wiser of what treatment I need, I can only be thankful that my waiting time was only 5 hours unlike patients around me who had been there for over 10 hours. This is simply unacceptable
