"poor nursing on Avon Ward"

About: Warwick Hospital

Excellent medical care given to our elderly relative has been badly let down by very poor nursing care on the ward. Doctors were marvellous but our 90 yr old father was left with no drinking water on four different occasions despite his serious need for fluids. Whilst visiting long time periods elapsed without any staff setting foot in the ward to check on patients - up to 1hr on some days. He was given no help to eat meals and left in the toilet for 20mins struggling to open the door by himself. There is no excuse as there were six different staff clustered around the desk but no one checking patients. It urgently needs sorting.

On behalf of the Trust I am very sorry to hear about your experience. We would like the opportunity to investigate thoroughly and respond appropriately. In order to do this though we will require further details to help us establish what happened with your relative’s care, therefore please could you contact our patient experience team on 01926 600 054. Yours sincerely, Helen Lancaster, Director of Nursing
