I am an insulin dependent diabetic and have recently developed another condition that may need to be treated with steroids. I was told that I may need to alter my insulin dosage, so I decided to contact the DSN, who has been my mentor for some years. I was told by Macclesfield Hospital that the department had been closed down and the nurses were now working in the community but not in my local area. They suggested I use my GP's services but as they promised me an appointment a number of times for an annual checkup which has not been forthcoming, I have little faith in them.

The Primary Care Trust decommissioned the nurse service from Macclesfield Distric General Hospital last year and this is now provided by Cheshire East Community Health. Cheshire East Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community based healthcare services in various settings such as GP surgeries, health centres, clinics, and patients’ own homes.
