"Good Service but unacceptable wait"

About: Salisbury District Hospital

Ii have been visiting Salisbury Hospital for many years and am in the Autumn of my life, overall I find the care and service at Salisbury Hospital second to none. However - I would like to point out one thing that I find really unacceptable: I regularly attend the Glaucoma Clinic for check ups and have an appointment which last approx. 10 mins but when I arrive my notes are put in a tray and then everytime another patient arrives the notes are placed on top of mine and then the next patient taken in is the one on the top. This means that having an early appointment results in being at the hospital for hours. I do not like to complain but this time I waited for two hours - which at my age I find difficult. I hope that this situation might be looked into. Thank you,

Thank you for your comments about your visit to the Eye Clinic. We are sorry to hear of your long wait, and have talked to the team to about what happened. There are often a number of different clinics taking place and so patients are not always called to be seen by the doctor or nurse in the order in which they arrived, but clearly the delay you encountered was unacceptable. We've reminded the reception staff to ensure patient notes are kept in the right order; they were also very sorry that you were kept waiting for so long. We are really grateful to you for telling us what happened as we can work to ensure it doesn't happen again.
