"Follow up appointment request following cataract..."

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

My mother has undergone cataract surgery, June 2014 right eye and December 2014 left eye. She was due to be seen again in early February by the Clinician. I have tried to get an urgent follow up appointment this morning as she is not recovering from surgery on left eye as well as she did with the other eye. She has a lot of pain in her eye. Went to see GP last week who prescribed antibiotics as he thought there may be some infection. The response to the antibiotics is negligable. I have been told this morning that the first appointment availabe is at the end of March. I was advised to contact the secretary but was told they are not allowed to give direct line numbers out for secretaries. What do we do? go to A/E or Walk in Centre. I am a medical secretary and being on the receiving end of appointments centre is a nightmare not to be recommendned. I must make sure that my mother is seen urgently to avoid any possible complications which could be avoided if she were to be examined by an Ophthalmologist.
