"Radiology"

About: Birmingham Women's Hospital

Throughout both my pregnancies and now with an Ovarian Cyst, Radiology have been very frustrating. Most recently I phone requiring about an appointment that was meant to be sent to me. I was told that I would need to be re referred as I did not attend my last appointment. The last appointment was not attended because of a situation out of my control and I phoned at the time and explained, I was told a new appointment would be sent in the post. However, prior to that I was given another appointment that I had to change because the date given was after the consultant appointment (where we discuss the scan results). Radiology were telling me that they could not do anything until they received a card from gyni. I explained that I had a consultant appointment for 2 months time and would need the scan before then. Radiology just said, well if we dont know you have an appointment then we cant give you a scan date. I explained that I just told them I have an appointment! But they needed this card still. I sad perhaps you should go and get the card? Or speak to gyni!! The response was gyni was too busy to talk to them. So i said perhaps they could put a note on my records so they knew I had a gyni appointment on said date. No! They couldnt do that either!! The communication causes many frustrations and the organisation is terrible. When I was pregnant I could be waiting for hours for a scan while others go straight in! If I have a scan appointment time, my scan should take place within 30 mins of that time! It is a shame because the labour suite and ward are amazing.
